Class

Join us for this exciting 2-day weekend workshop with Aeolis Est on Sadomasochistic Rope: Flow and Feel. We'll begin the weekend playing with flow in our floorwork, experiencing how focusing entirely on the bottom instead of the pattern creates an aesthetic that can be both bondage and art rolled into a single organic piece. We'll work through tension drills designed to get us thinking outside of the realm of the pattern, into the realm of chaos: how the rope moves across the body, how to isolate and bind different limbs, and how to create an organic scene through listening to the interplay between rope partners.

As we delve more and more into patternless structures, we'll find our way to the ugly side of rope. We'll progress through rapid movement towards pain for pain's sake. Moving to the beat, exploring how we can move our partners and how we can keep them still, we may find ourselves expanding our floorwork into partial suspensions. Touching on patterns and patternless forms, we'll utilize these forms to either focus on movement itself or entirely on pain.

Not for the light hearted, this workshop is for intermediate and advanced level students. Students should have the skills and awareness for solid single-column and double-column ties, a suspension worthy Gote or an alternative suitable for their partner's body, and solid upline management. While this workshop may move from floorwork into partial suspensions, it is not designed to teach partial suspension skills.

Please bring a yoga mat, or the like, with you for your comfort.

Catered lunch is available for both days, and will include vegetarian and gluten free options.
